Nations requested remembering Aafia in fasting month prayers
Karachi, July 11: Pakistani nation has always remembered their jailed sister Dr Aafia Siddiqui and in this holy month of Ramadan the nation is once again requested to remember the innocent Aafia and pray at Sehri and Iftar times for her early release and reunion with her children, appealed Aafia Movement Pakistan leader Dr Fowzia Siddiqui here Thursday.
She said the holy month of Ramadan is the month of hope and mercy. She said as the greetings of this holy month the family of Dr. Aafia would like to thank all of the many sincere supporters who have had the courage to help and contribute towards expanding the global awareness of Aafia's case and take efforts to secure her reunification with her children. “During this month of reflection we ask our supporters everywhere to say a small prayer for Aafia's health and speedy repatriation to her family. We also request that a prayer be said for the relief of all victims of torture and senseless violence everywhere and for God to guide all those with power to act with compassion, forgiveness and generosity.
Dr Fowzia Siddiqui said it is a good omen that the government of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has formed a committee on Dr Aafia Siddiqui issue. She hoped that this committee would take untiring efforts to ensure early release and repatriation of the daughter of the nation. She said it is sad that on the government level nothing solid and meaningful could be done to secure the release of Aafia despite many opportunities. She reminded that Aafia has already spent a decade in torture and captivity and past governments of Pakistan paid just lip-service to her cause. She said now the patience of the nation is wearing thin and this pro-people government enjoying a heavy mandate should take efforts in proper direction and give the nation an Eid gift in the shape of the release of Aafia. She said the Pakistani nation waits to see Aafia spending coming Eid with her children. Let the government makes this dream true.
