PESHAWAR – The Aafia Movement, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, Friday urged the masses to pressurise the Pakhtun nationalists-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to take the issue of Dr Aafia Siddiqui with the American government.

“It has to complete 10 years of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, innocent daughter of the nation, in the illegal detention of the US, said Mr Hafiz Khattak, media Coordinator Aafia Movement Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter while addressing a news conference here at Peshawar press club. He while narrating the written statement of Dr Fozia Siddiqui, sister of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, said that they were contacted almost all the political parties in the country to play their due role and ensure release of detained Dr Aafia, but to no avail.

He added that Dr Fozia was found to meet the masses of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province but due to unavoidable reasons she could not reach.

Mr Khattak lamented that the government didn’t play its due role to ensure release of an innocent women from the detention of the US. He also informed that during the last days former US Attorney General Ramzi Clarck had met Prime Minister, Minister for Interior and other high officials and assured release of the detained Aafia, if the Pakistani government writes a letter to the US government.
