Former US attorney general calls on Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Human rights activist and former attorney general of United State William Ramsey Clark on Monday called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry at the Supreme Court, Karachi Registry.
The Chief Justice welcomed the former US attorney general on his visit to the Supreme Court Pakistan and appreciated his efforts for the cause of human rights as he had been raising voice against war crimes and crimes against humanity in different parts of the world.
The Chief Justice recalled his own visit to the United States in the year 2008 and the services and support of Mr. Clark had provided for the cause of rule of law and independence of the judiciary in Pakistan on the occasion.
The CJ also appreciated the role of legal fraternity in the movement for the restoration of judiciary and pointed out to him the sacrifices made by the lawyers particularly the newcomers/youngsters who stood for the judiciary as a consequence thereof the door of military adventurism was closed once for all. He also appreciated the role of lawyer community including the New York Bar Association and the lawyers of the country as a whole for the restoration of the judiciary and establishment of the rule of the law.
