Former US Attorney General calls on MQM Coordination Committee Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar
Visiting former Attorney General of United States Ramsey Clark called on Deputy Convener MQM Co-ordination Committee Dr Farooq Sattar at Khursheed Begum Secretariat here. He was accompanied by Texas University scholar Ms Laura Castro and Dr Fauzia Siddiqui, sister of Dr Afia Siddiqui who is languishing in a US jail. Current situation in the country and issues of mutual interests were discussed in meeting, MQM press release said Tuesday.
Co-ordination Committee member Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh Khawaja Izharul Hassan, In-charge Muttahida Lawyers Forum Zameer Siddiqui were also present.
Clark expressed concern on sentence passed on Dr Afia by US court and said he would raise voice for her release in Pakistan and the US. Dr Sattar extended sympathies to Dr Fauzia and said MQM had been speaking on release of Dr Afia at every forum. He said he would appeal to President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf to lend support on this issue, press release said.
