23rd September Remembered Across Pakistan

September 23rd, 2011 marked the one-year anniversary of Judge Richard Berman's condemnation of Aafia to 86 years in in a US prison under harsh conditions.

The date was marked with several rallies and protests across Pakistan. The Prime Minister of Pakistan accompanied by his Interior Minister came to Karachi and visited with Aafia's mother and sister. Messages of support came in from supporters and many officials from several Islamic countries.

Yet, despite this support, the Pakistani government found it necessary to issue a press advisory discouraging reporting of the events and many of the pictures shown here were censored for several days.
