81% Pakistanis say they would support the government's decision to free Dr. Shakil Afridi in exchange for Dr. Aafia
According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 81% Pakistanis say they would support the government’s decision to free Dr. Shakil Afridi in exchange for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “Suppose if the Pakistani government decides to free Dr. Shakil Afridi in exchange for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui then to what extent will you support or oppose the government’s decision?” Responding to this, 51% said they would completely support, 30% said they would somewhat support and 11% said they would somewhat oppose the decision. 8% of the respondents said they would completely oppose the decision.
Question: “Suppose if the Pakistani government decides to free Dr. Shakil Afridi in exchange for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui then to what extent will you support or oppose the government’s decision?”
The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2629 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during Jan 20, 2014 – Jan 27, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
