As the United Nations convenes its Annual general meeting in New York every September, the timing ironically coincides with one of the worst violations of the Human Rights Charter – the 86 year sentence handed to Dr. Aafia by Richard Berman on September 23, 2010. In an odd way it is befitting that the contradictions of the world order are displayed so starkly within miles of each other.
This year, several civic and Human Rights groups are staging a free screening of the documentary "Prisoner 650" by Yvonne Ridley in the same city where the UN meets to tout Human Rights and where Aafia was so shamefully treated.
