Rulers got votes in the name of Aafia but betrayed to her cause: Dr Fowzia Siddiqui
Karachi, October 31: Pakistani politicians take vote in the name of Aafia, but when in power betray to the cause of her release, said Aafia Movement leader Dr Fowzia Siddiqui, on the occasion of a ‘prayer day’ here Friday.
The prayer day was observed on the appeal of the mother of Aafia, Asmat Siddiqui in whole Pakistan. Special prayers were offered in mosques, educational institutes, offices, homes, press clubs, bar associations and offices of social, political, student, labor and human rights organizations. The nation prayed for the early repatriation and return of the daughter of the nation, serving an 86-year term in a US jail for a crime she never committed.
Dr Fowzia said we have not lost our Aafia, but dictator Musharraf sold her out. She said later many politicians took votes in the name of Aafia but they never took efforts for her release when they came in power. She said selling out of a daughter of the nation is a shameful act and tantamount to inviting the wrath of God. She said this is why the nation is facing collective punishment in the shape of floods, earthquakes, famines, cyclones and other natural calamities. She prayed Allah, the Almighty to save the nation from danger of Nilofar cyclone.
Fowzia said that innocent Aafia was kidnapped from Karachi along with her three minor children and trafficked outside the country. He said later the world knew about the drama including so-called attack on the US soldiers and finally she was given 86-year imprisonment without any proof.
On the occasion, religious scholars in their Friday sermons shed light on the issue of Aafia Siddiqui. They said they have even snatched the copy of holy Quran, prayer rug and scarf from the innocent Aafia and she is kept in solitary confinement. She has no right to communicate with her family on telephone. They said her appeal has also been rejected by a biased court.
On the occasion, special prayers were also offered to seek the mercy of Allah to save the nation from Nilofar cyclone, to give courage to the rulers to do justice with Pakistanis and for early release and return of Aafia Siddiqui.
