South Africa rights bodies, civil society support Aafia cause
Karachi, June 18: Civil society as well as human rights campaigners of South Africa have supported the cause of global mothers’ rights icon, Dr Aafia Siddiqui, and demanded her immediate release.
As per details, Aafia Pakistan Movement leader Dr Aafia Siddiqui, accompanied by Pasban-e-Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor, reached South Africa on the invitation of different human rights and civil society organizations of that country. They would visit different parts of South Africa and discuss human rights of issue of Aafia detention with human rights bodies and civil society leaders. They would hold talks with Muslim Judicial Council, South African National Muslim Women Forum, Cii Broadcasting, Islami Career Line and other organizations.
This is the second tour of South Africa by Dr Fowzia and Altaf Shakoor. Earlier, they had visited this country in 2012 and promoted understanding between Pakistani and South African civil society on the issue pertaining to the rights of illegally detained and overall human rights scenario.
During the visit the Pakistani delegation would visit Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and other cities and meet with people belonging to different walks of life and speak to different gatherings.
