Signature campaign in Karachi for solidarity with Aafia
Karachi: On completion of 11 years in illegal detention of the daughter of the nation, Dr Aafia Siddiqui, Aafia Movement would hold a signature campaign in Karachi, besides solidarity programs in more than 50 cities and towns of Pakistan.
Aafia Movement leader Dr Fowzia Siddiqui said that on the completion of 11th year of Aafia in US illegal custody, the Global Aafia Movement has announced programs all over the country to mark this day as a day of solidarity with the “Daughter of the Nation – Aafia Siddiqui”.
Solidarity programs will be arranged in more than 50 cities including Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad in which human rights activists, civil society members, teachers, women, lawyers, students, writers, intellectuals and social and political figures would participate to raise the demand of immediate release and repatriation of Aafia.
As the issue of Aafia detention is getting attention of human rights activists and peace loving people all over the world, the overseas chapter of Aafia Movement has announced programs in 15 countries including South Africa, USA, UK and Turkey.
In Karachi a signature campaign program has been designed at Two-Sword roundabout Clifton on March 30 from 3 to 4 PM in which community leaders will sign & write comments on a large banner in support of Aafia Siddiqui.
Fowzia Siddiqui invited people from all walks of life including lawyers, retired judges, showbiz stars, political leaders, media professionals, teachers, doctors, religious leaders to come with their families to the solidarity programs and make them a big success.
