False propaganda against Aafia: Fowzia gives legal notice to APML info secretary
Karachi, October 30: Aafia Movement Pakistan leader Dr Fowzia Siddiqui sent a legal notice to Ms. Asiya Ishaq, Secretary Information, and All Pakistan Muslim League (APML).
Afia Movement Pakistan in a statement here Wednesday, said Dr Fowzia’s lawyer Advocate Syed Abdul Waheed in the legal notice said his client is a senior Medical Doctor Neuro-physician, Diplomat American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a consultant Neurologist. She was former Director of Epilepsy Program at Sinai Hospital, Johns Hopkins University, USA. She belongs to a highly educated and respectable family of Pakistan. Her younger sister Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is also highly educated and a well-known woman in the world. Both Dr Fowzia and Dr. Aafia are Pakistani citizens and hold no other citizenship of any country in the world including the USA.
In March 2003 Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was kidnapped from the streets of Karachi with her three minor children; a very sad and tragic incident, the ordeal of injustice now known worldwide. Dr Fowzia has been running an entire international campaign to raise awareness of this grave injustice meted out to her sister as evidence from her actions but she has never made derogatory remarks or false information in this regard.
The legal notice saud on October 11th 2013 at about 9:30pm Pakistan Standard Time to Ms. Asiya Ishaq, Secretary information, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) was seen on National Television channel News One in a talk show program Mazrat ke Saath. During the talk show she made some very malicious and serious false remarks on Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, whose 86 year inhumane sentence has raised hue and cry in the entire world. In the said talk show Ms Ishaq stated that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is an American citizen
The legal notice said earlier in another program Ms Ishaq had made the same remarks and Dr Fowzia corrected her and said either to show proof or stop spreading these types of false allegations to damage the international support for an innocent mother of three languishing in jail.
This program was seen by millions of citizens of Pakistan and across the world who watched and heard the statement of Ms Ishaq claiming arrogantly that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a US Citizen.
The legal notice asked Ms Ishaq either to present proof that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a US Citizen in court of law or render unconditional apology acknowledging the careless false remarks and for fooling and misleading the respected people who have watched your show and also pay Rs. 10 Crore as damages
It said such false statements have caused serious damage to Dr Fowzia and her campaign for the release of her sister Dr. Aafia and to the people of Pakistan who respect her as the daughter of the nation.
