Karwan e Gherat Jalsa in Lasbela Chowk Patel Para Karachi ( 6th May 2012 )
Dr Fowzia Addressing to a huge crowd ghathered under Karwan e Gherat here at Lasbela Chowk,Patel Para Karachi.
- OUR ACCEPTANCE OF OUR HUMILIATION IS THE ROOT OF OUR PROBLEMS.
- ETHNIC AND PARTY FLAGS MUST BECOME SUBSERVIENT TO THE NATIONAL FLAG.
- DR. AAFIA HAD A DREAM OF AN EDUCATED PAKISTAN AND BOOKS IN THE HANDS OF EVERY CHILD BUT OUR ENEMIES HAVE PUT GUNS IN THEIR HANDS INSTEAD OF BOOKS”.
- Getting AAFIA BACK REQUIRES NO MILITARY CONCESSIONS, NO FINALCIAL HARDSHIP, NO TERRITORIAL COMPROMISE: ONLY THE UNIFIED VOICE OF A NATION.
Dr Fauzia (sister of Pride of Pakistan, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui) stated that honor and dignity are blessings from Allah but need to be earned. On the other hand, humiliation, and collective apathy are curses that eat away a society like termites destroy a superficially solid structure. She said that Pakistan, as a nation, is daily living through the consequences of humility and apathy (bey-hissi). The collective tolerance of the disgrace of how we treat our daughters, how we ignore illegal disappearances, how we marginalize our minorities and how we have become indifferent to daily killings like lyari, gilgit, Kashmir, drones, etc has brought us to our present state of insecurity, distrust and lawlessness.
Our acceptance of our humiliation is the root of our problems and until we unite to restore our dignity we will continue to disintegrate as a Nation. When things are this bad, the path to unification must start with a simple and tangible cause that requires nothing more than national will. The freedom of Aafia is such a cause. She is the daughter of the Nation, the Pride of Pakistan and is humiliated just like her nation. Yet getting her back requires no military concessions, no financial hardship, no territorial compromise; only the unified voice of a nation.
However, Dr. Fauzia lamented that our rulers remain criminally indifferent to this cause and similarly to the national crises in general. But the public’s lack of demanding meaningful sustained accountability is also incriminating. She also said that it is unfair to lay everything at the feet of the current government.
The credit for kidnapping Dr. Aafia goes to our previous dictator, whose mercenary actions have tarnished our military and created a rift between the people and our brave soldiers. At this point, Dr. Fauzia asked for A MOMENT OF SILENCE TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF THE MARTYRS IN SIACHEN AND SELALA.
Dr. Fauzia made the above points while addressing a huge crowd at Lasbella, Patel Para. This was the 3rd massive gathering this month in connection with Karwan e Ghairat,.
Dr. Fauzia noted that today the country is facing existential challenges and facing incompetent management of the country. However, she lamented that so called leaders are continuing to divide the nation further into smaller and smaller fragments and each fragment sees itself as a seed for a new country. She said that if Pakistan is to survive as the founders intended, the nation must rearrange its priorities. THE ETHNIC AND PARTY FLAGS MUST BECOME SUBSERVIENT TO THE NATIONAL FLAG. She noted that when a genuine national voice of the people emerges with sincerity, the world will start to listen to what we have to say as Pakistanis. Today the world is confused about what or who is “Pakistan”.
On the specific issue of her sister, Dr. Aafia, she said that Aafia has become a symbol of hope for this nation and now even beyond. She said that “DR. AAFIA HAD A DREAM OF AN EDUCATED PAKISTAN AND BOOKS IN THE HANDS OF EVERY CHILD BUT OUR ENEMIES HAVE PUT GUNS IN THEIR HANDS INSTEAD OF BOOKS”. She also said that the response she is getting from overseas and private contacts suggest that the gross injustice done to her sister is getting wider recognition.
In closing Dr. Fauzia pointed out that it was clear from these recent Karwan-e-Ghairat programs that Aafia lives in the hearts of the people. The thousands that gathered were neither brought nor bought but came to show that we are an honorable people. She said she was proud that such people still walked the streets of Pakistan and that the Aafia Movement will not rest until the nation’s honor is restored and Aafia returns home, The Karwan-e-Ghairat has now taken off !
Pasban president Altaf Shakoor, Aafia movement coordinator lesbella Faheem Khan, Shakeel Ahmad Shaikh, and regional business and religious leaders also addressed the occasion.
